You've got a load of great answers here, but I have to say that there is no such thing as an uncool snake. Whether its a giant python, a king cobra, any cat eyed viper, or a tiny back yard garter snake they are all sinuous, sleek, slick, and sexy. They climb, crawl, swim and sometimes sail with exquisite beauty and ease. They hunt and kill with the ferocity and skill of a great cat. And, though there is a cool car called a Cobra there is also another cool sports car called a 'Viper,' which are the rattle snakes and a few other species. Buddy, any way you cut this scaly deck you're going to come up with COOL !

Know these differences:
The cobra has a slower strike, with its head held high, it lunges forward-sometimes killed by the mongoose-a mammal- that is quicker. The cobra's poison affects the nerves. The rattlesnake strike is faster, coiled from the side.
Its poison affects the blood cells. The rattler of course is known by the rapid vibrating tail. It gains more rattles each time the skin is shed.

Rattlesnakes are cool , but I enjoyed the two cobra's I had as pets , they are still a little tricky to feed , I traded the two cobra's for three Red Tail Boa's , due to me having Children in the home , I could not risk it with the Cobra's , as far as the coolest of the two , Cobra all the way , after all you have never heard of a car called a rattlesnake , but there have been Cobra's ...Ford still does the Cobra series , I suppose their could be a Kia rattlesnake if they were to use rattlesnake to name a series of cars.
Plus a Cobra looks the coolest when they get p*ssed ...

I like both, but I think cobras are more interesting since I see rattlers (and rattler bites) frequently where I live.
I wouldn't recommend owning either however.

Cobras don't impress me much. On the other hand, rattlesnakes are absolutly awesome! Now, here's a snake that will warn you not to bother it, then strike and strike at you, then get REALLY pissed and try to chase you down... while you're busy running away, screamin' SNAAAAAKE!!!!!

Neither. One shakes its tail. The other shakes its head. They both kill with one strike. Not my definition of cool.
