So I've always wanted to be a writer. But now I realize I have a great love for small children and babies. is it too late for me to change my mind from journalism to pediatrics? I'm 15 and I'm already working towards getting into a school like Medill School for Journalism(one of the best in the country). I know I'm still young and what not, but I guess it's always best to start early....

Also, is there anyway I can combine these two professions?

It's never too late to change your mind. I've known several men and women who have had successful careers and have changed pace and entered Medical School when they were in their late 30s and 40s.

Working hard on all your highschool subjects and activities will help get you into any school that you choose. I, personally, started a Chemistry/Premed Bachelor's degree when I entered college. After two years I decided to switch majors and focus on English/Writing: I finished my Bachelor's Degree in the next two years, graduating exactly on time even though I changed midway through!

If you decide on Pediatrics, how about minoring in journalism or writing in college? There are always writing opportunities out there. You could be a doctor and be the editor of a pediatrics publication. You might also decide to consider pursuing a degree in Journalism while minoring in children's studies - You could write or edit a children's magazine or a magazine catering to parents of small children and babies.

Your writing skills will serve you well in any major you decide. Many students change majors even in college. The most important considerations should be what you will enjoy. Your parents or teachers should be able to direct you to people working in what interest you. Talk to them about their job and what they really like and dislike about it.

You could be in your chosen profession for 40 to 50 years choose what you love not what you are best in. Of course if you love what you are best in that's great.

Unless you are already in college you can always change your mind. Just make sure you are getting your science classes in so that you can stay up on that when you go to college and you can do premed.

and yes you can study both. I don't know how they would be combined but mayb you can be writing medical articles or something.

You can be whatever you want to be don't let anything stop you :)
