I had never given it much thought until I saw this:

When Ace said that Eric had called him crying that he had been kicked out of the band it hit me hard.

Eric had a rare form of heart cancer that killed him. When it was discovered, Gene and Paul decided to continue with another drummer. It would seem that this was very hurtful to Eric.

To be fair to Gene and Paul, I do believe that they really didn't see the end comming. I think that they were very sad after they lost Eric. But here is one thing that bothers me. Gene said in his autobiography that Eric and Gene went to see Paul's solo show. They saw Eric Singer play with paul and Eric Carr was worried that he would be replaced.

Then, after really not being in good shape, he had to beg them to be in the God gave Rock and Roll video.

Paul Gene Bruce and Eric Singer were recording revenge and I guess that Eric Carr was devistated.

I was under the impression Gene and Paul both knew of Carr's heart condition-- Eric took a hit for the team and bowed out from touring and recording until his health stabilized....and it never did.

KISS insurance matters are understandably confidential, off-limits to interview commentary; doubts exist Gene or Paul will ever disclose such matters involving them and Eric.

But the bottom line: Albeit true Gene is sometimes a brutally savvy businessman, he's the major proprietor of KISS...and KISS is more than just a historic epic band, it's a corporation of Gene and Paul's design; loyal bandmates, regardless of band status---are taken care of.

I just got the Simmons' tell-all book "Kiss and Tell", where Gene forewarns readers he's brutally honest within it's pages.

However, I was told he speaks of Eric with class and dignity, having been shell-shocked upon receiving news of Carr's sudden death.

It's also rumored by reliable sources within KISS infrastructure that although Eric's drumwork wasn't on their REVENGE! album, Eric DID do some production work for the project---and was paid well for it.

Word is that Gene and Paul fired Eric on his death bed, and didn't allow the band's insurance to cover the medical bills.

I don't know that to be sure, but Gene and Paul are known to be bastards when it comes to business. I'm sad to say it wouldn't surprise me.

I remember the day he died and all that was said was "No comment from the KISS camp". Kind of says it all. Those two are disgusting.
