It makes it easier and more convincing to illustrate movement for the comic artists. Also it shows that they are so kickass that they can wear something incredibly gay and no one will have the guts to say anything.

The cape has always been a symbol for hero ever since Super Man came out as a popular comic. The cape just stuck with readers, and many other cartoonists noticed this-- thus, the cape frendzy.

i would wear cape if i could. it just looks cool. in times of yore, it was very practical riding horses, and poor people wore cheap homespun and homemade capes because they didn't know how to tailor three-piece suits. they just threw on the bedspread and went off hunting. i guess? the romans may have fancied it up and made it a symbol of wealth and power. i don't know how far back they go but they kept using them long after they learned to sew proper overcoats. i hope they make a comeback. i want one like batman.

Dress for success. Be like a vampire. Capes are often considered to have originated in Medieval Europe. Sometimes to protect the wearer from the elements.

I don't personally but most of the flying ones like the flapping noise it makes as they soar through the sky. The rest picked it up in the 'Superheroism for idiots' guide (as they did, wearing their pants on the outside).

The best-kept secret is that all superheroes have extremely large moles that cover their backs and buttocks. They protrude right through the fabric and they look horrible in tight outfits; hence the reason for the cape.

Probably because they bought too much fabric when they were making their suits. They had to use up the rest of it and so capes were created!

I think they wear capes because they are in a fashion time warp. No one ever told them that fashion changes. So they are doing what they have always done.
