For school I have to write a persuasive essay on a controversial topic. I love sports, but my parents won't let me write anything about sports since I write about them too much. I am in 8th grade.

I don't want to write about gay marriage or abortion, since they are really popular controversial questions. And last year I wrote about smoking. Im looking for a controversial question that no one else will have!

after helping write a billion controversial essays i can give you this advice -- pick something that interests you. if you don't like the topic it shows in the preparation and writing of the paper. you could write about gay rights or abortion if you had a different view than everyone else. persuade your parents to let you write a paper about sports and you could probably persuade your class too. have you ever thought about a career as a sports writer?

Why not write about large corporations using spin-offs of tragic incidents being exploited to sell there products. Two examples, the new Kentucky Fried Chicken ad, where the sitting is an office and every ones running around screaming someone has a knife, hiding under their desks and just over reacting, this is a sick way to sell a product with so many incidents like this happening with disgruntled employees already, (the Cheli's Chili Bar case right now in the news.) The other is Wendy's the ad has some kids hang someone on a hook to get to the kids dessert, ( something on the lines of this happened in Canada and it did cause a big enough controversy that they pulled the ads in Ontario) Good luck with your essay.

Hello! Some topics for an essay of this type may be:

Saving wild horses from slaughter, supporting animal shelter pets, the effects of good re-cycling in your neighborhood, having editorials in your local newspaper done by students [such as yourself!] , the importance of learning CPR before babysitting a younger child, helping out people who are older or handicapped when they may not be able to buy groceries, pay bills or care for their yards...are just a few of the topics that you can brainstorm on!
Speaking of sports, what about an essay on the effects of what Michael Vicks [did] had on the 'pet world', celebrities and people who do not treat their pets as loving creatures?
Have a fun essay, I hope you get an "A"!

The question is whether you and the teacher can keep the class under control.

How much time do you have to prepare? How good are you under pressure? Will you raise understanding or will there be hard feelings all over the place?

For a topic, based on research and your opinion, how about predicting who will win the Super Bowl?

You might consider writing about topics people differ about in your school. For example, should there be a dress code? Should students be allowed to wear droopy pants, or hats in school, or short shirts that don't reach the pants?
