Just like the answers above, our souls are immortal.our bodies keep changing whether of a human or an animal or an insect, but the soul remains the same. its only that we do not remember what we were in our last birth. In case of our body being immortal, I doubt. because even great saints have stopped breathing, isnt it? the books say of attaining nirvana and stuff.....may be a way of attaining immortality is attaining freedom from life, therefore no question arises of being born as a mortal. Even Jesus died, but we feel His presence whenever we wish to from the depths of our heart.

im assuming you dont mean spiritually, physically, i would have to say absolutely not. We could probably go much further than we have (instead of 30 year lifespans we now have between 80 and 90) but biologically, already we are stretching the timetable. we have to find a way to prevent everyday wear on our bodies, and not just on the outside. Organs get tired, and age causing mutations leading to cancer. So, we could probably do it eventually, but to have any quality of life, i highly doubt it.

Well, "yes" and "no" - it's kind of a trick question when you think about it. One of the defining features of humanity is our mortality. If we succeed in conquering death, we will have transcended our humanity and gone on to become "something else".

If we could find a way for cells to keep replenishing themselves without mutation, then it would be possible, but I'm afraid it will never happen.
