Mothers of twins, when did you start feeling fetal movement with your multiples?

I am 10 weeks pregnant and today I felt fetal movement. This my 4th pregnancy so I know EXACTLY what it feels like and that's what I felt today (for the first time). I am totally baffled and can only wonder if perhaps I'm having twins.

I am 30 years old and my grandmother had fraternal twins. Two of my cousins have also had fraternal twins.

P.S. I am 100% certain about my due date (I know exactly the date I conceived based on my charting) so it's not possible that I'm further along then I think. Also, I have been incredibly exhausted with this particular pregnancy.

Yes, extreme fatigue and feeling fetal movements earlier CAN be signs of multiples.

Since you are a veteran mother and have felt this before I would say 10 weeks is very early and a good enough reason for you to bring this to the attention of your doctor or midwife.

Also, since you are 30 and twins obviously run in your family, AND you are on your 4th baby your chances are also good for those reasons.

I have read many posts here on Yahoo Answers from mothers of twins. Several of them felt movements as early as 10-11 weeks so it is definitely possible. Also, if you visit these links you will see that very early fetal movement is commonly a tipoff to a mother that she is carrying more than one baby.

First of all congrats on your bringing a new life into this world, that is awesome and the fact that you have had this experience before makes it even more admirable. It is my experience that all pregnancies, even if there has been several, are not the same. There are nuances during the pregnancy that may differ from one to another, and no it is not a sign of twins, even though that cannot be ruled out. You will find out soon enough with the ultrasound.
A child is the most precious of gifts, do as I believe you are, cherish and love the baby or babies as just that, the gift that they are.
I will pray for you, the baby (ies) and that all works in accordance with God's most marvelous will.

Fetal Movement At 10 Weeks

The fact that you are on your fourth child could be reason enough to feel fetal movement earlier, but I think it makes sense that twins could cause you to feel movement earlier too, because there is more movement going on down there. Good luck, and congratulations on your growing family.

The only way to tell is to have an ultrasound, you should be having one soon. Having twins does not mean you will feel movement sooner alot has to do with the positons of the babies. Just the fact that this is your 4th pregnancy is a good reason to feel movement sooner.

Veritas,
Congratulations! (rather late, sorry.)
Has R&S made baby shower plans?
I can't help with baby things - as my sons 13 any diaper skills I had are gone. Sorry (not really P.U.!)
Just very happy for you and your family.

Sounds like it to me! You are, after all, a veteran mom who knows her body by now.
