gonna have to go with Bob Dylan on this one .....just read some of his lyrics....they're beautiful

They say ev'rything can be replaced,
Yet ev'ry distance is not near.
So I remember ev'ry face
Of ev'ry man who put me here.
I see my light come shining
From the west unto the east.
Any day now, any day now,
I shall be released.
- "I Shall Be Released"

When you cease to exist, then who will you blame?
I've tried my best to love you, but I cannot play this game
Your best friend and my worst enemy is one and the same
- "Angelina"

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Ev'rybody knows
That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.
- "Just Like A Woman"

MMM there are sooo many. I love Bob Dylans songs, but one of my favorites is Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins
"Welcome to no where fast/nothing here ever last/nothing but memories/of what never was/ We're nowhere/ nowhere"- Jellybelly or
Shake down 1979/cool kids never had the time/on a live wire right up of the streets/ you and I should meet/...morphine city slipping dues / down to see/that we dont' even care/ as restless as we are/ we feel the pull/ in the land of the thousand guilts/... to the lights/and towns below/faster than the speed of sound/..beneath the sould/ of hope
I also really like the lyrics in the mosquito song by Josh Homme
I know/the sun is hot/mosquitos come/to suck your blood/ the further I go/the less I know/ the less I know/ where will you go/where will you hide/ lulabies to paralyze
So many others I can't even think of at the moment.

Even as crazy as this sounds I love Jon Anderson's writing style it conveys pictures and it focuses on the sound of the words sometimes more than the meaning. The meaning are sometimes vague but can be interpreted to mean deep thoughts relating to life.

" Do not pierce the veil of the skies"
X Ray Eyes
"And two blocks of ice melt into my hands like dice and i roll seven on the floor of the sea"

I'd have to go with Christine McVie formally of Fleetwood Mac,
Her songs are some of the bands biggest hits and she just writes some beautiful songs

Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, not only does he write amazing lyrics, he also manages to tie them all together with a theme to make the best concept albums ever.
I mean, the lyrics to Echoes, breathtaking.

Goo Goo Dolls, hands down. Everyone thinks I love them as much as I do because Johnny Rzeznik is completely gorgeous (which he is, and it doesn't hurt), but I fell in love with their music first. I never really had a favorite band before, just favorite songs. Then I realized the same band sang Iris and Better Days and I'm like, "I have to check these guys out!" So I looked up all their songs and realized there were like 7 on my top 20 fave songs list and I'm like, "Dang, this guy's a genius!" His lyrics are freaking AMAZING and they relate to everyday people. Seriously, both those songs brought me out of some really tough times, I owe so much to them.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand

Hello!!! Pure BRILLIANCE!! And then Better Days was written after the whole Hurricane Katrina mess, but it can seriously relate to a million different things.

Second's definitely Lifehouse. They've got a lot of good lyrics that can relate to anyone too. Really strong lyrics. My favorite's probably All in All:

All in all, it's just another day now
Falling down, whatcha gonna do?
Standing on top of the world tonight,
No one's lookin' back at you

I listen to that pretty much everyday. Helps a lot when you're feeling kinda crappy.

Ian Hunter. He's still as witty today as he was in the early 1970s with Mott The Hoople.

His current songs are just as funny and biting politically.

Give "Morons" a listen.
