I copied them onto a DVD but the DVR does not recognize them.

yeah, go to download.com and download the youtube downloader:

from there youll have a raw file, you can edit it and burn it to a dvd if you have a dvd burner. there is also the option of running an rgb cable (monitor cable) from your computer to your tv, if your tv supports it like mine does.

Most computers have a TV out jack to show on TV, just need the cable for your particular output.

Well, the DVD you recorded it on might not be readable enough. Either try a different disc, or you have to modify the DVD.
