This is my second child, I was in labor for 33 1/2 hours with my first (start to finish) but I've been having contractions since Thursday at 3PM. Everytime I go to the hospital they have no room and say that they wont induce me to help me get father along. My normal doctor will be back from holidays monday but untill then I've been told to take the Tylenol 3s and to walk around. Its been 75hours of this and I am getting frustrated that nothing will ever happen farther then this. I'm 4 cm dilated and over 50% afaced. As of this tuesday I'll be 38 weeks. They say in my pregnancy book that you can be like this for weeks with no pain but only 24 hrs in pain. I've been going for days in pain. HELP is this normal?????

Thanks!
LMW

For days. With my 3rd pregnancy early labor lasted nearly two whole days before my water finally broke and contractions became regular. However, they were painful from the beginning (during the very early phase).

I walked a lot during early labor and finally on the third morning I woke up and my water broke.

Unfortunately for all women it is a reality and it is normal. Labor can go on extensively especially if your water hasn't broke. I would suggest lots and lots of walking to get things moving if the pain gets extreme and they won't take you for labor and delivery go to the ER. I know that sounds horrible but if your in so much pain you shouldn't have to suffer.
I was in labor 24 hours before I went to the hospital and barely was 4 cm dialated. They weren't going to keep me but my bp spiked to 140/94. It happens. Good luck!

Early hard work can final for days and normally weeks. You will recognise while the following level of work is coming near. The contractions will likely be a lot more painful and they are going to final longer. With one of the most contractions, you are going to no longer be competent to trap your breath.
