Hi Jam.

What is the REAL purpose of life?

That might be a different answer for different people. You will have to find your own path in this life. However, I hope you will want to leave your mark on this world. I do not mean that you need to become famous or anything like that. Many people who work "behind the scenes" do wonderful things for humanity.

It means that you can touch people, make a change in people's lives for the better, for peace & love. Imagine if every person did that! There would be no war, no violence, no poverty.

Of course, I am not so naive as to think that will actually come to pass; however, each one of us has the chance to do some good. What direction we take is up to us. There are many purposes in life. Let me give you this to think over:

---------------

Life is a gift. . . accept it.

Life is an adventure. . . dare it.

Life is a mystery. . . unfold it.

Life is a game. . . play it.

Life is a struggle. . . face it.

Life is beauty. . . praise it.

Life is a puzzle. . . solve it.

Life is opportunity. . . take it.

Life is sorrowful. . . experience it.

Life is a song. . . sing it.

Life is a goal. . . achieve it.

Life is a mission. . . fulfill it.

---------------

Jam, I believe the purpose of life is to experience it to the fullest - all the good & all the bad. Share what you "have" with others. Find peace within yourself; that way you can bring peace with you wherever you go.

Make the most of your gifts; you will find more & more of these gifts as you go through life. Use them. Do not be selfish. As it's said, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Treat people kindly; be aware of any prejudices and try to stop them. It's true that it never hurts to smile at someone.

Take each day as if it is the only one you have left. What can you leave behind that will make the world just a little bit better? Even if it's in the lives of just a few. You never know where they will take what you have given them & what they will do to pass along your kindnesses.

Peace

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

The Innocence of Youth. The learning of childhood. The awkwardness of adolescence. First Love. First heartbreak. Education. Friends. Family. School. TRUE love. The tenderness of it. The phase where you become an adult, and say goodbye to that innocent, sweet childhood. The experience of elderness, the feeling you get when you look back on your life, and see that you don't have any regret, don't wish to change anything after all. To love. To hurt. To understand. To cry. To laugh. To hate. To forgive. To live. Then the final, and not precisely the last change: death.

The answer to that question is a personal one for each of us, but I am willing to share...

"To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived."

This was taken from a longer quote entitled "Success" by Ralph Waldo Emerson, but I've often thought that this part of his success formula is a good motto for the "REAL purpose of life"

Perhaps it will work for you?

there is none. Religion might give purpose to death but not life. The purpose of life could be to continue it spend billions of dollars preventing AIDS . Disease eradication. reduce military impact on environment no more deaths caused by wars either.

To give of yourself to others the best way you can, just leaving someone go ahead of you is one of the simple things, giving things you no longer need so others can enjoy, helping children with whatever they need be.
Motto::
Give unto others as you would have them give unto you.

To drive the self to madness with such questions. Those who will not stop thinking will find any manner of question to continue in the activity.

To love, to hate. To feel for others, to turn your back. To speak up, to be quiet. To bring happiness, to bring sadness. To bring life, to bring death. To grow, to shrink. To think, to act. To have fun, to be serious. To breathe, to die.
To live.
