Wealth is not the endgame.
Wealth dictates societal status, and that status must be showcased. A soldier wears his rank. Thus, the appearance of riches is more important than the riches themselves. Spending, not saving is the method to increase standing.
As a friend of mine noted recently, Humanity now obeys an imperative that is far more psychological than biological. Culture trumps evolution.

objects can be aquired with it just depends which. If a person knew that they would gain something by buying other people objects they needed then it more would be gone. So if money more of it were spent on prevention of disease then all gain. No not a desire for wealth as wealth is seen in terms of cash or ones and zeros in a computer not in livestock. Health is not valued as there is no way it can be used as coin . sure.enough of this anyway.

There is nothing wrong with having money but to never be satisfied is another story. I myself do not wish for wealth. Without family or health the money means nothing to me.
I have more than alot of people but to society I really have nothing. I have a job, my bills are paid, I have a home, I have a car, I'm not in jail... to those with more they would not be satisfied but to those with less they'd be envious.
I am happy without the wealth although wealth would make things for me much easier and also for my family.
I may not have all the things I want but I have all the things I need.
In today's society we have our priorities all mixed up. Our idea of wealth and happiness go far beyond their true meanings. Wealth does not always mean money... happiness does not always mean things.

A pursuit of gain beyond that which is needed to live in your particular society w/o want [enough o be considered comfortable] is motivated by fear.
A fear of being disadvantaged or perceived as less by others.
When many accumulate things with their excess funds they are presenting visual displays of their 'worth'. their ability to compete. While others work toward accumulating funds which remain for the most part out of the public eye. These people know the extra is there and it offers them sense of security in a different way.
Most people, if given the chance, would choose to have at least the extra in the bank... these are, after all, scary times.

Whenever people stop spending our national economy suffers since we are a society that thrives on the ability of the consumer to dole out the dollars, but wisdom still reminds us to spend our money carefully.
On the other hand, there are too many people who don't have the income that allows them to save anything because it takes every cent they earn just to make ends meet.

I think everyone desires to be wealthy but cannot control their money. If I came into allot of cash, I would spend it and help who I could. You have to be tight to keep your money, or don't tell anybody!

Money is just a means to an end. It is worthless if left unspent.
