It is truly an old wive's tale. If you get an ultrasound, you will see that the baby "dances" with the cord through the entire time. It doesn't 'wrap' around its neck by any motion you make, and the only only time doctors worry about it is when the baby is in the birth canal. With all the monitors they have these days, even that is not a problem. Tell them to stop stressing you while you're pregnant. And congratulations on the coming event.

Those are definitely not the only reasons a woman can have a C-Section (Just about any complicated pregnancy could warrant one), and, depending on where you live, money can buy you ANYTHING. However, I would warn against a C-section simply because of what they are doing to your abdomen. Surgery has its reprocussions and essentially a C-Section is just that, surgery. Some places the doctors no longer cut through the muscle, they pull it apart, however the pain of a C-Section by far outweighs natural labor in terms of recovery time, that's a fact that's a bit more than my opinion. I'd go through labor any day. (Not to mention I'm not fond of being cut open, :[ ) At any rate, labor is a very natural part of being pregnant and you generally have to have some reason, albeit a good reason, as to why the child must be removed from your body manually.

if you ask a nurse or doc this question they may find it amusing. im sure it is an old wives tale and lifting ur arms up is not going to wrap the cord around the baby's neck.

I am not a nurse or a dr but in the book pregnancy for dummies and im pretty sure it was also in what to expect when expecting it mentions how untrue this old wives tale is and im 5ft1 so i had my arms up a lot during pregnancy and it wasn't an issue, so don't worry

Very old wives tales. You lift your arms to brush your hair or put on a shirt. There is no fact in this.
