For the same reason as some men who have good wives don't look after them. They are taken for granted. That may well answer the second part of your question as well .

Amazing question. Why is it that husbands love the wife for what they are, but wives keep trying to change the husband. It would have been nice to know this ahead of time.

I'm not sure, I've had a crap deal from my ( soon to be ex) wife for a long time. She kept cheating, when I found out we tried to work things out but it never worked. What it could be, they know whatever they do we will forgive them and take them back. I don't drink or smoke and I didn't cheat on her.

think of it as a game that needs to be won by the person who keeps his word at the wedding,this is life no two people can ever be the same in a marrage it is like nagative and postive the lines of current one is live and one is neutrual come on if your husband was like you it would not last so you need the one who gives all the headact and the other person is the one who is trying to keep things together god always blesses the person who try to keep it together,like me i am a bad husband and my wife is the one who trys to keep us together god bless her for all the good she has done for me,i am a pain in the ***,

hi look all what you think you see is not always the real picture ,there are lots of couples out there that to look at them you think god she is so lucky to have a husband like that and in reality they are not helping with the kids ,leave a trail of mess behind there backside .....so it could well be all thorns and no roses after all ......have a grat day take care xx

Seriously though, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors, and you only really get to know what is presented to the world.
That doesn't detract from the bad deal many people of both genders get from their partners. I really wish I could understand it too.

Why do kids walk all over parents who dote on them, and never come home to visit once thety're grown up, yet knock themselves out trying to win the love and attention of neglectful parents? And no this hasn't happened to me but it did happen to my in-laws who were nice people and didn't deserve it.
