the lunar series are my favorites. lunar: legend for gba and lunar: dragon song for ds. also, you would probably like the fire emblem games. they're kinda like rpg's.
good luck!

Its really good to meet someone that has a taste for RPG's But it is sad to know that there are only a few good rpg's that have been released on PC lately and i have only played a few of them. I think most of the developers focused on Online RPG's. I'll try to mention a few names and hopefully i can help. these are just my opinions. I think you have already played a lot of them. All of the games mentioned below are PC games.
Games released this year and last year.
Neverwinter Nights 2 - the story is quite good. Gameplay is good. But the graphics requires a lot of processing power for its looks. Gameplay is also good.
Elder Scrolls Oblivion - I haven't finished this one yet. It seems to have a good plot. It has a lot of side quest that i almost forgot about my main quest making it non linear. this is a good choice if you want adventure but i'm not sure about the story since i don't know how it ends. this game has high ratings on gamespot.
Jade Empire - I rate this game 3 of 5. I like the story. The graphics are good. but it misses a lot on game play. plus this is a linear RPG, so only few choices can be made during game play. Its only a choice whether to be good or evil.
Not so Old RPG's (5 years old maybe)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (part 1 and part 2) I really love this game. I love the story, i love the twist, i love the gameplay. Its great.
Vampire Masquerade Redemption: Though this is a linear RPG. but the story is really great.
Final Fantasy Series - They are really known to have great stories if you love fantasies.
Diablo 1 and 2. This game has a great story, and the story is more deeper than what is told in the game. you can read a more detailed story on the game manual. but you'll also spend a lot of time hacking and slashing.
Classic RPG's
Longest Journey - i really don't know if this is an RPG. its more like an adventure game. i haven't finished this one though.
Planescape Torment - Great story and twist. its more like reading a novel than playing the game.
Fallout 1 and 2 - An open ended RPG. A lot of choices. Also has good combat gameplay during its time.
Two Worlds is the latest hit release on RPG's today but i still plan to play it yet, Also Hellgate London will be released at the end of October this year. I'm really excited about it.
Hopefully these titles are helpful to you. Enjoy your game.

I really enjoyed Dark Cloud 2, because besides fighting, you build towns, you can fish, play spheda (it's a bit like golf), raise and race fish (sounds silly, but it's pretty cool), and take pictures to invent cool items, weapons, etc. I'll give you a link to an IGN review:

This is a little known but incredibly fun game.
