I want to be different, and I want my creativity to show, but the problem is... My family doesn't have much money, and I want to do so many things with life before it's too late! I am still getting out of a deep depression that I've been in for about two years, so it's difficult, but I want to be creative and different. I wear glasses, and I really want contacts. I want to do things like dye my hair, get colored contacts, learn how to paint and to sculpt, and I really want to learn new things and ways to express myself! I'm only 13, so I still have some time, but all of the things I really want to do, I don't know how I can get done!
Help!?

I think you know that you are "unique" you just need to hear it more often from others... lol
If we were living closer... I would cheer you up a little more... and help you give you a makeover...
sounds like you need that. Everybody needs that at some point in their life... lol
you've been missing attention and being approved of others around you... and that's totally understandable... especially being as young as you are.
You need somebody to talk to, your mom or dad or Teacher maybe?...or any other family member that you feel close to? It's not healthy to keep it all inside of you.
Try to think positive and tell yourself that you are "unique & different" Even we here at "ya" can see that, girl :)
You should spend some of your free time to paint or just sculpt... especially if you have that talent to do that...
that will help you to improve your self esteem too :)
Id say.. go for it ☺... maybe you can also talk to one of your Teachers more in Details about that?
I think colored contacts are ok, but they cost more too :(
Maybe you can try and look at some other styles of glasses? They have so many cute styles out there... lol
Just try some other ones on, with a little help from an Advisor at an Optical shop.
The next time you go to the mall... see if your mom can go with you to a Department store and ask any of the Cosmetic Ladys there to show you how to bring out your eyes, lips, etc.
You maid be amazed when you look in the mirror :)
I hope I was able to help somewhat :)
Take care of yourself and may God bless you Dear ☺
~ Peace ♥

Be careful with your uniqueness; unfortunately, unless your are rich and/or powerful, the world, as it is, does not much care for uniqueness and much prefers conformity. Being an individual can make life rather difficult for you; just keep an eye on how others react to it and only let them know if their responses are positive (if you get rich and powerful, then it doesn't matter and you can just ignore those who are hell bent towards a negative reaction).
The fact that you want to release and build your creative impulses is positive in itself. Read a lot from varied sources; write yourself and find and develop your own style. Keep at the things that you enjoy but don't take on or expect too much (remember to enjoy life at the same time). You are still very young and have plenty of time to find the true you and where your real talents lie.
Keep in mind that there are tons of books that teach much in your library (not the best way but they can teach how to paint and other stuff at just the cost of the materials).
Good luck; be patient and it will come.

You have plenty of time to develop the uniqueness in you. If you want things to happen then you have to work toward your goals. Think of ways to earn money so you can buy some of the things you mentioned in your message. If you want to develop you artistic side there are several way to go about it.
1. Get involved in community art project that improve you city or town. Helping others will help you recover from your depression too.
2. Some high school and YMCA offer evening classes that are inexpensive in painting and sculpture.
3.During regular school take part in the art classes they offer.
4.Check into your school drama department too. You may not want to be star of the show but they always need people to help get the show ready.
I truly believe that everyone should explore their artistic side whether it through singing, dancing, writing, painting sculpturing, or acting. Good luck with you journey to becoming the unique you.

Be yourself everything else would come later on. I know is hard because I kind of started like that but now I have everything I mean I have more than what I ever dream of. But is because i believe there's a time for everything. You will get things done if you ask help from close people to you I don't mean your family I mean more like friends & stuff! Well I hope this helps & good luck I know you'll make it!

You are born unique. You need to be happy with who you are. Sure it's fun to change your hair color or eyes, but that doesn't define you. As far as being creative, take classes in school that are designed for painting and sculpting.

Learn how to sew!
You can modify your clothing or design your own and be creative with it to express your individuality. Second hand clothing stores are great places to find inexpensive clothing and accesories to modify.
If you are serious about it you can build a name for yourself among your friends and family for fixing others' clothing to fit their individual personality. There are scholarships to design schools you can look into when you are old enough.
You can find books and magazines at the library on clothing and design, or go to a major chain bookstore and look thru what they have on the shelf in the crafts/arts/needlework section to get ideas. You don't have to buy the expensive books, just get ideas from them.
This is a very inexpensive way to express yourself.

Okay, first off, you were born unique. Colored contacts and dyed hair does not make you unique at all, in fact it makes you just like every other teen out there.
You dont need money to be unique, you need talent, which you obviously have.
I had no money as a kid, but i will was creative and expressed myself in the world around me. There are many places for you to shine. Nursing homes need people to come and sing to them, or paint with them, or for them... how many other teens or people do you know who have that unique desire?
You can write, and endevor to have it published, or just share it with people around you. You dont need money for that.
You can use anything for art, even thrown out old magazines. Theyre full of colors that can be used for all sorts of things. Collages, self made books, crafts, anything.
You dont want to be unique, you want to be like everyone else. Instead, use what you have to express yourself in the world around you. Its great fun, and good for you especially if you're depressed. There are people out there who need people like you to interact with them.

you know, this may seem silly, but to be able to express yourself, try working with kids. you can paint and do all sorts of projects, and save money at the same time so you can get supplies and or classes! by the way, finger painting is awesome for kids, and gives you a real "hands on" experience with art. have fun!

Talk to you school counsellor about this he should know all about programs that can get you going, tell him what you want to do and see if there aren't some teen projects in your area that have the things you want to do.
Sometimes things are right under our noses and we just don't see them.
As for clothing try trift stores and put things together to make your own styles and things, lots of people do it.
Good Luck
