Bonderman is definitely not the Tiger's best pitcher, and losing him shouldn't hurt them much at all. His E.R.A. is over 5, and over the past 2 months it has been even worse. Kenny Rogers is back, Verlander has been pitching great lately, and the Tigers have promising young pitchers in Virgil Vasquez and Jair Jurrgens (coming off the D.L. in about a week) waiting in the wings to fill-in for Bonderman. However, the Tigers are going to need Sheffield to get hot if they are going to have any chance of getting to the post-season.

Doesn't Bonderman have an ERA over 5? If I'm right on this, can't be that big of a loss. Tigers season pretty much ended once Cleveland came out of their hitting slump. And as far as the above poster saying Detroit was one of the top teams a few months ago, no, Cleveland has been in the thick of this thing all year and have led the division most of the year. It's not like Detroit collapsed and Cleveland caught up.

Affraid so.
A fwe months ago I thought Tigers, Red Sox and Angels were the class of the AL. Since then Tigers have completely collapsed!
They are 3 or 4 back in Wild Card and the Yankees aren't going to lose more than 6 games the rest of the way! Tigers aren't going to catch NYY or Cleveland.

I think that if Bonderman would have been shut down a bit earlier and then come back like Rodney and Zumaiya then possibly they might have a chance. They are done

Bonderman was not having a great year to begin with, and if Kenny Rodgers can come back healthy he can replace him.It is certainly hard to repeat in baseball isn't it?

The Tiger's season is absolutly over as of now they are dying in the standings and Bondermen was there best pitcher. The only way they can dig there selves out is if Verlander steps it up.

Not if they can get hot. They have the offensive talent. If Kenny Rogers can do well at the end of September. They have young stars like Andrew Miller, and I think that if they get hot they have a chance.
