It isn't of much concern unless a baby isn't walking at all at 18 months. However it doesn't hurt to have things checked out, there are a few things that can cause the ligaments in the foot to shorten and prevent proper flat-footed walking.

Don't try to stop him, let him walk on his tippy toes. All of my babies walked and walk on their tippy toes, but keep that baby in the hard bottom hight top shoes to give his ankles support.

I would have your baby wear the special type of shoes that promotes walking (Stride Rite, for example). This should help him to stop getting on his tippy toes and start using his feet correctly.

Its normal actually. He just has found that he's more mobile and comfortable on all fours. At some point he'll reach a point where is balance and strength makes him more sure of his abilities and he'll take right off. He doesnt have to walk at one year, it can be later.

i could point out it to the pediatrician right now; just to be on the risk-free side. i understand maximum toddlers will walk on their ft for somewhat whilst the 1st start up walking, and each so often a pair of months later. yet whilst it maintains, i could convey it up back and seek for an orthopedic expert. to no longer alarm you, yet on occasion, toe-walking could be an illustration of a Neurological sickness. in many situations nevertheless, there could be different alerts as properly. so as long as your son is employing the two aspects of his physique the two, assembly different milestones interior the "well-known" age variety, and is coming up at a "well-known" fee, this is maximum possibly no longer something Neurological. My daughter toe-walked and improve into finally clinically determined with Cerebral Palsy at 27 months at age. yet she improve into born untimely and did no longer meet any of her different milestones on time. as much as now as I remember, arch progression is around the two year mark; yet do no longer quote me on that. My daughter has flat ft and not in any respect developed arches b/c she did no longer walk until eventually she improve into 30 months previous. i'm hoping you come across this is purely a piece that he grows out of. good success!
