You have to search the internet for your car manufacturer's alternator types, like Ford, GM, or Foreign car type, Bosch etc. They are similar but all different especially now that newer cars have computer controlled alternators. An auto parts store counter person may pull your alternator replacement from stock and show you the wiring connection diagram contained in the box.
