what is wrong with all the politically correct people who say you cannot fly the English flag in England.?

For instance why is Christmas to be called winter festival in a predomonantly Christian country.

the winter festival bit is a bit much but i think the flag thing is explained like this:

occasionally flags and symbols are taken over by groups and they take on the meaning of that group. sometimes that group sucks and people immediately identify the flag with them. the question is how to shake it.

spain: within the country for quite some time it just meant fascist because of its use in the civil war.

u.s.a.: unpopular politics meshed with whatever annoys you that happens to be associated with the u.s.a or it's people.

brazil: world cup champions, probably the only flag you can fly(or kit you can wear) in any bar in any country(except maybe argentina) during international matches or the world cup.

others: palestine, the ussr, and the list goes on.

I understand the way you feel this government has ruined this country and the politically correct have to much to say for them self's and there will be not Meany British people left in England this country is not great any more its now only the UK. i was told by the council to take my English and us flag down when we first went to war after 9/11 that is why i want to emigrate to a better country thank you

Those are two different questions.

PC is totally out of control. Whether is had a positive beginning is questionable, but it is now a very deconstructive force focusing on negatives.

December 25th really has nothing to do with Jesus, who was prolly born in October. Rather then fight over which of the many different religions gets to choose the name of the Winter Festival it is easier for the official term to be religio-neutral and let people work out for themselves what to personally call it.

I've heard people say this but I've not noticed it happen in my area. Christmas is still called Christmas and someone near me flies the English flag from their garden. During the football lots of people had English flags flying from their cars including me and even the Asian guys at my old work place had English flags on their delivery vehicles.

I think there's a difference between the English flag and the Union Jack. And, is it really possible to fly it upside down? Never heard that one.

The reason is teachers, civil servants and others are under pressure and fear for their job, caving in.

I also thought there was a law about being anti-British?

Since when is the name of christmas being changed ?Discraceful - you fly that flag with pride. I'm Welsh and always celebrate St Davids day (even if it's wearing a daff on March the 1st)

I have never heard that you can't fly the union flag mind you I am amazed how many people fly it upside down and I think Christmas will always be called just that.

I say we should all leave england, crown an american state for our own. Kick the americans out of the state, and re-name the state england.

Then over time, we become americans, then eventually we start to call ourselves irish americans.

Honestly i'm sick of it, i'll fly my flag when ever i like.

I think if anyone wants to fly the flag they just should.The police cant control the hoodies so if loads of people fly a flag do you think they would have the resources to go and arrest them, idoubt it.
