I think the American's won strategically because George Washington fought, and retreat without anniliating his who army. I think the British won tactically. What do you think who really won? No stupid, dumb comments please. This is serious.

the British did win most of the wars during the revolution. however, washington won, by just merely not losing. he was a war genius, and knew when to fight and when not to. the british outnumbered the colonists by so much, but washington knew how to retreat and defeat, by random ambushes. this led to the final seize of yorktown. it also had a lot to do with the french too of course. so basically the Cornwallis surrendered, and Washington won.

It was French intervention which won the war for the American colonialists. No French intervention at Yorktown, no USA.

Perhaps they did win tactfully, but in the end, it is obvious who won the war, and since then, war has been overhauled and the strategies and rules of conduct are much different.
