Depends on the shorts. If you're wearing a pair of ripped up camo shorts that are at least long enough to still have the side cargo pockets, they, yes you could make it work, especially if you wear a pair of fishnets under it (could just be thigh or knee high) or black cotton leggings. If you're looking for the Village People YMCA look you could wear some short jeans shorts, cut offs with a pair of work-boots instead.
