Well, its private gain vs. social gain. If I'm a politician, do I take money from the oil companies and give them tax cuts, or do I somehow manage to tell my constituents that my opponent will do that and not vote for him. And how can I afford to tell my constituents this when all they do is watch TV and vote on a person's image? In order for good men to get into politics they both have to have a great TV image as well as bit of morality, and Clinton had that - political morality, that is!

The Clinton economy was not greatest economic expansion in our nations history, just the best in the last 30+ years. The post WWII years not only saw higher growth rates, but the increases in GDP were spread evenly throughout the income distribution so working class experienced huge gains in their standard of living. Check out this graph on what people earned and you will see my point.
