i agree this proves my point that a race doesn't need two thousand passes to be exciting it only needs a hand full of critical passes, the entire season came down to turn 3 on the last lap, awesome

i also really enjoyed watching the team work by penskie and ginassi, i found that more enjoyable than the usual every man for himself racing,

and for the guy above me if the team cant get the fuel numbers right then he SHOULDN'T have won

congrats to Dario,

The race was unquestionably filled with drama in those last 2 laps. On the last lap as they exited T2, I said "Dixon just won the championship if he has the gas." Sure enough, he didn't. It was a gamble from both AGR and TCG on fuel mileage.

Watch a replay of Dixon's reaction when his car finally came to rest. He didn't pound the steering wheel, didn't throw it, and wasn't visually upset. You know it had to be just heart-wrenching to him, but what a class act. As his car's getting towed back to the pits, he gives Dario the thumbs-up in T3.

And what makes it funny: The Indy Pro Series earlier Sunday had the closest finish in either IndyCar or IndyPro racing - EVER! The time: 0.0005 seconds!! The estimated winning distance: 1.25 inches. There is high-speed photography that shows this!

NASCAR can have all the bumping/banging and rabid fan base. For my money, there's nothing like IndyCar. Speed, precision, drama, and did I mention speed?!?

I agree, I'm not the biggest IRL fan but that was a true chase for the championship. Two guys battling side by side going in to turn four. One of the greatest races i have ever witnessed. I love NASCAR but they couldnt produce an amazing finish like Dario and Scott did. Its just ashame the IRL doesnt get the same attention Nascar does.

Yes it was "amazing"like you wrote Iand I dont want to be cocky but I expected to be that way if both drivers would still be in the race.....I was suprised with Tony Kanaan I thgought he was going to be there up front all race long waiting for a mistake or a failure on both Dario and Dixon, but TK ended up way in the back....Great finish for both Penske guys I really thgought Sam could win the whole thing after alll Penske ran great all race long....What can we expect for 2008?I am a bit worried after alll Dario and Sam will mostlikely jump to Nascar, so who will cary the torch?Sam to me will be a much biger loss for IRL can Helio,TK,Dixon,Wheldon and Marco lead in 2008?Will team Green/Andretti insist with Danica?..Lots of questions will see.

It wasn't just the two racing for the Championship. Earlier in the race it was great how so many cars were bunched two and three wide for so long. And let's not forget the great fan turnout. The stands were packed.

It was a great race...At the end, no one knew which driver was going to make it to the checkers, as we seen with Wheldon and Dixon. A tough way to lose a championship, Ganassi and teams gambled and lost, and they lost a lot.

Dario was no doubt in the right place at the right time to cash in on Dixon's misfortune.

As you wrote....It was amazing!!!!

I know!!!! Im soooooooo glad that Dario won!!! He really deserved it. I feel so bad for Marco Andretti though, he hasn't finished a race for 3 weeks!! None of the times were his fault though, his car was just horibble. He needs some new engineers.

To the commenter that said Dario didn't win with skill, I highly disagree. Dixon and him pitted at the same time, Dario made his fuel last just a bit longer. It pains me to say it, I was pulling for Dixon the whole time, but Dario earned it.

It was a good finish, but it would have been better if Dixon had not run out of gas and they could have raced right up to the finish...

what was amazing about it, franchitti got lucky, i hope he feels awesome knowing that he won the championship because the guy who should have won it ran out of gas. an amazing finish would have been franchitti actually using skill to win the race. just my opinion though.
