The capacitor has 2 electrical mounts and both are 2 pronged so a total of 4 prongs but I can't tell which is positive or negative and I don't want to put it in the opener and have it get fried. Is there anyway to tell which is the positive and which is the negative? Thanks if anyone can answer this one.

Unless you're dealing with a 12 Volt system, there's no positive and negative posts in AC voltage. They change back and forth 60 times/sec. As the other fellow said, as long as you attach one wire to each of the two different posts, (don't attach them both to posts that are attached to each other), it should be fine. The capacitor will store the charge and then discharge it to start the motor.

Wires should be 2 red and 2 blue. Motor running capacitors are not polarized so do not worry. Just connect 2 red wires to one side and 2 blue to the other. No side matters. Be careful as most caps blow because of other problems. E mail me with questions. Some old caps have just 1 red and 1 blue. Make sure motor is unplugged!

On a Garage door opener it makes no difference which way round you put it.
