If your talking about the latest craze of lucky bamboo, the kind you keep indoors in water, the key is clean water. I've never had the patience for it, but you can't use tap water. Distilled water is probably the best.

There are a couple of things I disagree with in this site. They suggest changing the water once a month, but it really needs to be changed every two weeks. I would also not use the plant food because Dracaena actually likes neglect and does fine without fertilizer. I do agree that aged tap water is fine but distilled water is even better.
