I use Lavasoft's Spyware Search And Destroy, Ad-Aware and AVG Antivirus free version. Together with Windows XP SP2 with its firewall turned on, I have not had a problem in four years of "always on" broadband.

Ad-aware and spyware doctor should never be installed on any computer, not only do most sites that have them come with spyware or trojans but the file is often infected itself. and for trojans you should get the free version of AVG anti virus not anti spyware.

um, i recommend all as well as spybot and spyware blaster to prevent infections from even occurring. make sure you update & immunize and enable all protections though cuz the free version doesn't do it automatic. you have to click 3 times to do it, but it saves you $ and is well worth the 6 seconds it takes to do
