Believe it or not, there are power companies that will help or aid people that are disabled and not able to pay the entire amount of their utility bills. Explain your situation and ask if they have any suggestions. If they are rude, try to pay the bill and then research for another provider who has cheaper rates. We did and we are happier. There is bound to be a company that is sympathetic to a disabled person with a limited amount of income and agencies to help people work on a tight budget, but you might have to do a little research to find out who these companies/people are. And don't pay attention to the "cat callers." Some people are just lost village idiots with no compassion! I truly wish you well.

I hear you. Those who were horrid to you, their lives aren't over yet.
If you are in Ontario, you can apply for equal billing where your payments are averaged out over an 11 month period and then in the 12 month you reconcile the difference. It usually comes in March when this happens.
Anyway there are indeed places you can go to receive help.
Check with your hydro provider, check with any of the ' help' centers in your area.
I've been there myself so I understand your problem. Many people don't , it's not that we live lives of luxury, or we're out smoking and doping or drinking up our cheques, that's only a small percentage of people.
Do things to conserve like changing light bulbs from the florescent ones to the curly ones, they're expensive at first but they're worth it. Turn off your lights when you're not using them , same for any small appliances, tv etc. Calk your doors and windows and if you have to put plastic over them to keep the wind off. Only use your ac or fan if absolutely necessary. Good luck I wish I could help you more .

I was not here. Don't let a few people get to you so easily!
Have you tried different agencies in your city.
Written a certified letter (and keep a copy) to the Utilities commission, with copy of electric bills
I didn't read your previous post,so I don't know what was in it.
I've just said a prayer for you.,that you find a way to continuously pay your bill. That he give you strength to forgive people who are being cruel.Hang in there!
In our city the electric company ask people to pay alittle extra which helps to pay for others who cannot afford their power bill, this time of year people go to the Social Services Department and sign up for a "Heating Program" which pays or helps to pay for wood ,oil,or electric.
There may be all kinds of programs offered.
Ask the electric company to come out a check for something which may cause your bill to be higher.
I really wish you well,Take care!

Do not get too sensitive over what people say. You have enough problem to worry about . Be aware that this is read by people from all over the world who will perceive your question differently.
However, Yahoo!Answers is NOT the place to do what you are doing. It is NOT set up for this.
There are great suggestions and advice as to what you could do. I am sure if you go to the right authorities you can get help.
NO ONE on Yahoo!Answers -whether they think your question is a scam or not - will send you any money. And IF they do - you will have to give them your bank account details which - in reality - very dangerous to YOU - as the people who now have that detail abuse that information and rip off YOUR money!

Contact your power company. Most have assistance available and you certainly can work out a payment plan.
Also, check into alternate pricing (I'm not sure what to call it); we have "time of day usage" pricing, where we pay a higher charge for electricity during the peak hours (daytime, when most people are at work anyway) and a much lower charge for electricity used during evenings or weekends. Even with me at home with our children during the day, this gives us significant savings over traditional billing. (It works best if you limit high consumption activities like laundry to non-peak hours, but the savings show up for us even when I do laundry during peak times.)

Let me get this straight people were horrible to you because they advised you to contact social services, told you that IF your money from your cheque and your prepaid credit card were stolen social services will reissue a cheque if you have a police report to support your claim. You were also advised the social services does provide emergency assistance, and that if both and your daughter are disabled you should both be eligible for assistance.
What your original THREE questions were all about was "Please send me money, I need help immediately"
You were also advised that the people on this answers site are disabled and barely able to get by on their pensions and assistance and that you should NOT be asking disabled people to send you money.
And it was questioned how it is that you were in possession of a prepaid credit card when you obviously havent paid your power bill in months.
You also posted that your power bill for JUST two months is over $800, that, as I pointed out, is impossible. Its that high because your havent paid it for awhile.
Go to social services, you have now posted four times asking for money. I said in answer to your third post, that IF you posted again I was reporting you.
Consider yourself reported. This is a SCAM, you dont want advise you want people to send you money and get very nasty when all you get is advise.

Sir, apparently you don't seem to understand about YAHOO ANSWERS, it is not intended for that kind of help, it is to solve problems like for example, in the pet section people write in about what to do about a dog going indoors instead of wanting to go outside like they are supposed to, not to try to get others assist them in paying their electric bills. I suggest you that you cut out the internet service that you are currently recieving and go to the library to use the computers as those are free.

Don't get so upset when folks are trying to help you out. I know that none of us are going to send you money and help you out that way, but we are trying to tell you where to go to get the help that you need.
Your local churches and the electric company will work with you if you just ask them for help. I know this as I have done this myself before.

I'm really sorry if you are having a hard time - please don't take this the wrong way but in order to pay for essentials (like electricity) you will have to cut luxury items (ie internet connection, cable tv)
again please don't take it the wrong way, I'm sorry if you are having a hard time, but obviously people aren't going to give you money over the internet, there are very many scammers out there.
Hope things get better for you soon.
