Throw it in the trash.
The EPA hazardous waste regulations exempt households from complying with the regs and besides regular household lightbulbs are not hazardous waste anyway. The only type of lightbulbs the EPA is concerned with are the fluorescent bulbs because a number of them contain mercury.
So you should just toss your light bulb in the garbage but that's nice you gave it a second thought.

Throw it away. Are you asking about a large florescent bulb? Or one from your house lamp. If it's the house lamp toss it out. We throw our fluorescents in a box but that is only because we have 9 or 10 at a time and don't want anybody cut. Then they hit the trash can.

Feed it to your dog. NO JK. Theres places u can bring used batteries such as a car battery too, and i a lightbulb too i guess, to properly dispose of it. Sometimes they pay you for it, depending on the place, store them until u got a lot of useless crap that isnt safe to just "throw away" bring it to the place in bulk, its not worth makin a trip just for one light bulb.

If you live in a high rise apt. complex watch as someone walks by with their dog. Then drop it just after they walk by. And watch the dog jump a 10ft in the air.

put in a hvy duty plastic bag, smash it, then put it in a used open can from the trash, you won't get cut as easlily then if you crunch the trash down as I do, to make more room.

check with your local city or check with landfill, usually they can properly dispose of it.
