with only 20 games or so theres a chance he does but hell have to cool off sometime before the end of the season. its whether he gets to 61 while hes still hot thats going to be the problem. hopefully he does hes averaging almost .5 hr a game which is a lot. since he needs 9 more he needs at least a homerun every 2 games to beat it. possible but hard even for arod

First of all, I would like to point out that 61 home runs is not a major league record. It is 72 by Barry Bonds, Yes he is suspected of using steroids, but lets face it, It is in the record books, and will not be removed since the probability of numerous players who were on steroids. Now for the American League. the record is 61 set by Roger Maris. I do not think he will break the record. Look at what happened to Ryan Howard last year. He was two away from 60 with about two weeks left is the season and he was homer-less, and never reached 61. Besides, Ryan Howard plays in the National League and if he would have surpassed 61, it would not have broken the Major league or National League record for most Home runs in a season.

The record is 73, not 72 as stated by Jon B, by Bonds in 2001 and A-Rod will not reach that record but he has an excellent chance to take the AL record of 61 set by Maris in 1961 because he is 10 times the player that Ryan Howard is or ever will be.

A-Rod is locked in and has been swinging the bat with ease all season. There is no reason not to anticipate that he'll reach 61 or beyond within the regular season. Sit back and enjoy watching a part of history in the making.

I think that he will get 61. But that will only be the Yankees Team record. Barry Bonds holds the record for most HRs in a single season. He had 73. But i think that A-Rod will definetely beat Maris's team record.

particular... Roger Maris now no longer holds the checklist, yet he could desire to. His checklist replaced into broken with the aid of three ball gamers in touch in steroid scandal! Mark Mcquire, Sammy Sosa, and ultimately Barry "Roids" Bonds himself. If Howard passes Roger Maris (and that i think of he has a solid shot) i've got self belief he may be the 1st one to take action without using overall performance enhancer and be the only respectable single season residing house run checklist holder.

He has a really serious chance. It looks like he is going to close out the season the way he started it. He might also end up with 150 + RBIs, too.

He does have homers in 5 straight games,
and he has been ppicking up the pace for the first time in 4 years.
If every thing keeps going the way it has been this week, then it is very possible.
I think he can & I wish him good luck. :]

Time is running out in the season. I understand that he is hot, but it will be tough and unlikely.
