I tried once. It was a back country road that gets traveled a lot, but it was kinda through some wetlands. I had both me boys in the car, and we barely missed a turtle in the road. I tried to find a place to turn around, but by the time I got back down there, a truck and got him. It was very sad, and my boys were silent all the way back home. (They are never silent). I felt really bad that I didn't just pull over and put my flashers on till I could get it off the road.

When I was little I did that a lot!A car almost rand me over when I tried to get a hurt pigeon from the middle of the road!My yard was full of birds that couldn't fly, little kittens that had to be fed with a syringe...I do the same things now but not as often as before cause I have school and trainings and I don't have as much time for them.

It's so weird that I saw this question today.
Just last night when my boyfriend and I were driving home, down a small side-street, I saw this TINY kitten. So I scream, "NICK, TURN AROUND! THERE'S A KITTEN! TURN AROUND!" He turns around and we go to see it. He was maybe 4wks old. I went to him, he didn't move, and I touched it to pick it up... it freaked. Started spinning in circles, and hopping up and down. We get on the phone, calling animal rescue... no one answers. We call a 24hr animal hospital and they gave us two numbers to call... no one answered. I left messages at all places, and still NO ONE has called me. If I could pick him up, I would have taken to my house then an animal shelter the next day, but he wouldn't let me. He just freaked out. I still feel bad because I had to leave it. It must have had some really bad head-trama, because I've had a ton of cats, and none of them ever acted anything close to that.
So does it count if I tried to save an animal?

I brake or swerve..once I hit a duck on the highway and it didn't duck, I think it had suicidal tendancies...it was an explosion of feathers. I looked in the review mirror but couldn't see it. If it didn't die I hope someone ran over it quickly. Squirrels love to play chicken with me. Weird occcurances...once a snapping turtle..about a month ago, and a bunch of chickens....I stopped for the chickens and still couldn't figure out why they crossed the road. (scratches head)

My dad and I were going like 35 down Torrey Pines (in Las Vegas, where we live) and a dog ran in front of us. He hit the brakes as not to hit it. So yes, I have stopped to save an animal on the road.

I've moved a ton of turtles while driving from Tallahassee, Fla., to Charlotte, N.C. I put a hit squirrel in a box and called animal rescue once ... I had to leave for work, but my roomie told me a really cute girl came to get it.
Damn work.
(I'd have saved him anyway, even if there wasn't a cute girl involved, of course).
I want to know if Tinkerbell stops to save animals.
(P.S. I kept a lady from walking out into traffic once downtown - does that also count?)

A white cat darted out in front of my car and I ran it over. It was especially heartbreaking for me since I use to own a white cat just like the one I just hit. I stopped, went to the cat, but it was beyond helping. I pulled it off the road and into the grass. It sucked.

I saved a turtle once, it was on the side of the road walking towards the car lane so I took it and put it back into the woods.
