that is probably your grandma saying hello..that reminds me about a story, it's not a ghost story, but i had a dream the night of my grandma's funeral and it was just of her smiling. i could smell that baby powder smell that she always smelled like..i remember waking up (in the middle of the night) and i swear, i still smelled her as if she was in my room..but in my dream, she was just looking at me and smiling..of course she looked very healthy..i miss her..

We actually lived in a haunted house when we were first married. I have tons of spooky stories that went on in that place. I've listed a few below.

One time we got up and went to church, not even on a daylight savings time, and when we got there, no one was at the church. Our watches said we were on time but no one was there. We went back home and all the clocks said the same time as our watches. When we called time, our watches and clocks were all set two hours ahead. We were the only two living in that house.

Another time, I had made two pumpkiin pies and they were cooling on the stove when we went to a meeting at the church. When we came back, there were two ditry plates and forks in the sink and one of the pies was completely devoured.

Several times a week the shower would turn on automatically and stay on for about 5 minutes and turn itself back off just like someone was taking a shower. When you would go into the bathroom after the shower turned back off, the towel by the shower curtain was always messed up but it never felt wet. Ghosts don't get wet because they don't have skin. I couldn't figure out why they needed a shower either.

Every evening at the exact same time, 8 pm, the locked gate on our picket fence would unlatch, the gate would open and you could hear footsteps coming down the walk. You could count the steps, they were always the same number of 14 and then you would hear them go up 3 steps and then two more steps to the front door. The screen door would open and then it all would stop. We had many eye witnesses to that but no one could figure it out.

One night we were playing a game with our friends and this cloudy dark figure appeared. The room turned icy cold. It moved around the room and then disappeared as quickly as it arrived. The next day, several of our neighbors wanted to know why our house was the only one with a big black cloud hovering over it.

We eventually moved from that house due to being pregnant and it was too small for a family. The friends that were with us the night we saw the figure appear, moved into it. One night we all went out to eat and came back to their place (this house). Their cat was sitting in the middle of the floor totally spooked out and frozen in fear. This kitty was usually a very sweet cat that loved everyone but after that, no one could get near it.

None of the spooky things every happened when I was there alone. They only happened when my husband or some other man was in the house.

I often wonder if that house is still standing and if anything else happened there after our friends moved. We were both military and got stationed elsewhere in the same month.

I put this on another answer about hauntings. I really don't know if you would call them ghost stories but I have had a couple of things happen at my house that I really can't explain. I am not sure really what to think about them.

I went into the kitchen one morning as I was getting ready. I have a jar that I keep candy and stuff in for the constant stream of friends that my daughter has running through the house. Anyway the jar sits on the bar, I was reaching up to get something out of the cabinet above it and the lid on the jar started jiggling on it. I looked down and it jiggled for a few more seconds then flew off the top of the jar and down onto the lower level of the bar. I looked at if for a second and picked it up and put it back on the jar. I then tried to hit it with my arm, which I know I didn't do but that didn't do anything, I jumped up and down, my house is on slab, that didn't do anything. I ran into the bar that didn't do anything. The jar rattled a little but nothing recreated it. I don't know why the jar lid did that.

A few months later my youngest and I were sitting in the family room which is attached to the kitchen. We had had pizza for dinner that night. I was finishing a program with her and then was going to put up the dinner stuff. The pizza was sitting on the bar. I had closed the box until I was ready to put things away. As we were sitting there the lid slowly started rising on the box and then flipped completely open. I sat there and watched it open really strange I wasn't sure how I could figure out how that happened.

A few nights later I was doing some work at home and was typing on my laptop in the family room. I had been to the store earlier and had a tube of tooth paste sitting on the bar and the thing just jumped off the bar. I usually blame the cat for things like that but it was sitting on my feet at the time so I know it wasn't him.

The last thing happened about about a month ago. My oldest and I were going to have a yard sale and she had come over to price some things and organize stuff for it. We decided to take a quick break. She was sitting on the couch flipping the channels on the tv while I sat in the floor and put some price tags on some things. I heard something behind me and turned my head. Behind me were two chairs and a small table between them. I wasn't leaning against either one. There was a mt dew can that my youngest had left on the table and the can was scooting backwards on the table. It moved about five inches. I turned and looked at my daughter, it was comical the expression on her face. I went over to the table and picked it to see if there was any condinsation on it. It was dry as a bone. I kind of rattled around the table shaking it and stuff. The can just fell over. I really don't know what to make of all of it.

I have also had several dreams about my grandmother coming to talk to me. One was the night she died. She had been dead for 8 years now.

Ghosts or apparitions are the real deal! I would have thought I was going nuts if it weren't for witnesses that were with me. I watched a battlefield site in Gettysburg, PA come alive where soldiers died and were buried right on the very spot. --Never been so scared in my life! I go back every year now but I've not seen anything since. I know from what I've studied that it was a horrible battle but you really don't feel the impact of the writing on it unless you are there. Its creepy. Real creepy!

Read Haunted Houses by J. Frank Kettlecamp. He was a paranormal researcher, so he just presents the facts and leaves yo to decide if it is a ghost or not.
Yes, I have had several "ghostly" encounters, but I'm saving those for my own book.
