I know everyone is different but I guess I am asking for an average. My child is still an infant so I am not sure of his mental capabilities.

The more you stimulate, motor patterns the better your child has to develop to full potential. You qualify under Federal law to have your child enter school at age 3 and stay until the day before s/he turns 22.

Call you local state mental health and developmental services agency immediately. They will guide you in ALL areas including financial support, etc.

Down Syndrome is a diagnosis not a sentence. Did you know there are people with Downs Syndrome who have graduated from college.

How do I know? Work for the last 20 years in the developmental disabilities field.

As long as he has an IEP he is allowed to stay in school until the age of 22. Hopefully he will graduate prior to that, but at this point it must be pretty difficult to say.

every child is different and develops and learns in there own way and especially as your child is an infant there is little way of telling, let the child develop and play and be a child for now and love him/her for who he is; children are all brilliant

According to federal special ed law IDEA, all children who are in special ed have up to age 22 to recieve a diploma. If child is not in special ed, i don't know.
