American companies have sent many jobs off-shore to increase company profits. Also, many labor jobs such as house construction are done by companies who preferentially hire illegal immigrants again so profits can be maximized. I've been to several Asian countries, for instance, and the people there are educated, hard-working and hungry to achieve and from what I've seen maybe more deserving. So what's the future? Please refrain from making political comments. My intention is to get some objective answers. Thank you for your response.

Sorry I didn't mean to make this just about off-shoring jobs or illegal immigration. Also things like our lack of support of education and our reliance on foreign oil since the decline of our own stocks from the 1930's to the present. I only recently heard that we used to be the world's largest producer of oil!

Contrary to nay sayers off-shoring in the last 20 years and the reduction of the manufacturing sector has not lead to a reduction of jobs or quality of life.

The unemployment rate is as low as it can be, and people are living better and better.

We have switched from a manufacturing to a service economy, and their is nothing wrong with that.

As for the future it depends on what happens in China, so far they seem to be going strong, if this continues they certainly will be on par with the United States shortly.

That is not to say it will make things worse in America, the pie is constanly growing, if done right everyone can have a good share without anyone loseing out.

In 10 years China and India should have their foundations completed and America will be in trouble.
10 years is a long time as well as a short time, business already has plans , and I would think governments do also for 10 years, and further out to make sure they are protected.
America will have two presidential elections in this time, and congress and the house also will be repopulated so we will have quite a lot of work ahead of us. If you know anyone smart that's 12-22 maybe they can be elected in 10 years and help. New blood will be needed in America.
Also involved in a 10 year plan will be resources. Allies and new technologies will be more important in these fields.

10 years from now? Yes, the US will still be the dominant economic power, though the EU will be a close second. 10 years is not enough time for a major economic shift. Throughout the 19th century, the US boomed and slowly caught up with Europe and the UK as major economic powers. It takes time to develop the infrastructure and market necessary to become dominant.

In 100 years, I think the US will be the number 2 or 3 economies. China, EU and US will be co-dominant at that time, and excluding any major disruptions (a coup in China, or major war), China will move toward dominance.

Grate question in ten years I think that china will be the dominant power don’t get me wrong I think that the US will still be very very strong still but you have to look at how fast china’s GDP (gross domestic product) is increasing and ours is around ½ of 1 % per year and how fast the Yuan is climbing to mach the dollar and all the other works china is doing all the construction and the three gorges dam that they are building has shown me anyway that they have finally arrived on the world stage

I don't see it as a major power at the pace things are going now. I feel most(not all) Americans have lost their motivation & drive. They feel that money is the only thing that matters & they will do anything even kill to get it. They don't fight injustices anymore as they are more content with sitting down twiddling their thumbs & let politicians continue to step all over them. Many Americans seem to care more about the antics of Britney Spears Lindsay Lohan Paris Hilton & other Hollywood stars than care about the real problems facing this country & our world today. Americans where more concerned about impeaching Clinton over a stupid affair than to impeach Bush who led this country in a war of lies & deceit.(not a clinton supporter) Every crime situation has to be about race & who's rich. It has to be about turning it into a circus so they can get ratings on Court Tv & Not about doing justice anymore. American media stations like Cnn & Fox News seem to care more about turning things into a lib vs con situation instead of giving fair news reports.

rwe will remain. we will always be the stronger. but we will have to pay a sacrifice more than we already have. more terroists attacks. anyway, anytime. the freedom of our lives are gone forever. we're not safe at the mall at the grocery store. not even at home anymore. we all need to live our lives one day at a time and enjoy what God has given us.
