My laptops hard drive is no longer getting detected, it did this before and then it booted up again, when I restarted it it was stuck on the acer screen again! half way loaded, in bios there is no autodetect feature

Well, you are not likely to remove the drive very often. Does the bios let you describe the drive? Tell it how many blocks, sectors and cylinders it has.

That's usually a sign of a dead drive, the on board controller can die and cause it to do this. Buy an external drive and use that instead until you can get it repaired.

you could have a loose IDE cable on your laptop harddrive. it your laptop has been dropped, bumped around a lot or anything like that it could easily be a loose cable connecting to your harddrive (happened on one of my older laptops). it'd also be a good idea to just crack open your laptop case and take a look and reseat the cable. should just be 4 screws.

i wonder,how it does not have auto detect in bios!
and how it worked before1?
so you should defin HD manually in BIOS,that is not easy
