Auditions are the worst, for everyone. It's just like doing a play: if you're not having fun, neither will the audience. Auditions are a necessary evil-some people are more experienced at it and make it look easier, but it's always hard, for everyone. Remember that it's your own, personal time-they want to like you. Nobody auditions actors so they can hate them! Treat it like your personal evening in the theatre: a mini-play starring YOU. Remember this too: there are always going to be people who are better than you are, and those who are not as good. A lot of it is luck. If you work hard and prepare your best, that's all you can do. I know it doesn't sound like very good advice, but lighten up and HAVE FUN. The great Zoe Caldwell always says that she never said 'no' to any job. Auditions are the same. And the more you do, the easier it gets. It's a tough business, so don't get in your own way. Enjoy.

Try to remember that performing is an enjoyable activity and that an audition is just another opportunity for you to enjoy performing.
