Credenza? I thought it was a chiffarobe.....

I guess it would be classified as a cadenza -- a very slight one, and not very showy. Maybe more of an obligatto. (Which means it was played in an obliging manner ?)

I don't think the brief oboe solo in the first movement of this piece can be rightly called a cadenza. A cadenza occurs in concertos, is played toward the very end of a movement, and is performed by the solo instrument that is being featured throughout the piece. Since the oboe solo in question appears in a symphony, is played mid-way through the movement, and because the oboe can't be said to play a generally featured role at all, I believe it is best simply to refer to it as a "solo."
