i have been poor and happy all my life and i have no regrets i just think that if i was to become rich i really wouldnt loose my friends and family because i wouldnt be an asshole with my money to the "less fortunate people" because i remember what it is like to be less fortunate. i still think that is a debatable subject because not all rich people are lousy and not all poor people are happy **** for the first 5 years or so after my dad died (he was the only one with the job thats why we became poor) we were absolutely im surprised or family didnt split up worse than it did and for longer than it did hell it was so bad i ran away from home 5 times in one year and attempted suicide 3 times god was definently on my side and i thank him for that. i am a US Marine now and i dont get paid worth crap but i really dont care cuz im misserable that im away from the ones who helped me through my times of need...my friends and in the end my family as well. so before you say poor people are happy and rich people are miserable you have to think its not ever that simple.

Poor and happy..although you could be poor and unhappy or rich and unhappy. I am poor but feel lousy and wish I rich.. We always said in the south I aint got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out in. LOL

I'm kind of poor and it feels lousy. If I had more money to live more comfortable and help family members, I would be more happy.

I think poor and happy never fit together. That forces me to the other choice you offered. If you are spending your time worrying where your next meal is coming from, how to pay the rent, and how to make those ratty clothes last another year there really is not much room for happiness in your life.
I hate forced choices. Almost everyone here would reject your black/white and this/that options. The real world has room for compromises - like enough money to meet your needs while enjoying your life, as a for-instance.
