I've heard of dyeing carpet but never painting carpet.

Even with dyeing carpet, you may still end up with spots because your carpet may have dirty spots on it or wear spots and the dye may not "take" to the carpet as well in some places as in others. But I have heard of some people having luck with dyeing their carpet.

The second link I put below actually has "carpet paint" (so I guess there is such a thing...my bad) and dyes if you click on the link to their basic link at the top of the page, but the link I put is the directions on how to dye/paint your carpet. I hope this helps.

I don't even know if that is possible. Maybe for a new fresh color you could clean it?

Well over here someone asked the same question:

regular old latex works best as it will absorb into the fibers better. What kind of a rug are you talking about? Be careful with a shag type carpet, it doesn't feel so good on the feet afterward if you get too much on. If you are doing a sisal type rug, you will need to seal it afterward with some type of latex sealer. Good luck.

Or you could call Them to see if they can do it (if you live in their area):

I took a sponge and rubber gloves and painted my carpet with all the colors of paint I had already used some out of for walls. It came out great over blue. Use your imagination and have fun. I sold the place and the buyers loved the kitchen floor

iv never heard of painting carpet before... you can prob try dying the material but since its , im guessing, a huge carpet to fit the size of a room... then i dont think you can get very far with that.

you can how ever try washing it.. with a proper industrail carpet cleaner... it will get the dirt and smells out.. and make it feel and look as if its new again.

I try not to... but I've had one of my crew knock over a 5 gallon bucket of Desert White interior latex once. Cost me $500 to replace the carpet.

PAINTING carpet would be INSANE !!
