When will Blacks get rid of their victim mentality?

..and take a cue from their more decent, educated and more affluent representatives such as Bill Cosby, Tiger Woods, George Washington Carver, Condoleeza Rice - you see the list is small.

You were not the ONLY race to be held as slaves
You were not the ONLY race that suffered discrimination for a very long period of time

Why is it that inner-city Detroit, Memphis and Chicago are no better than some of the ugliest urban disasters in the Third World? Why do more young Black men end in prison than in college (there is no SHORTAGE of colleges)?

Why do African students who come to study in the US always outperform African-Americans in every field despite the latter having minority quota?

Why do you have braindead scum like Panthers, Nation of Islam and Al Sharpton harping and whining about events that took place before my father was born?

White Americans have contributed a great deal to the economic reconstruction of Europe?

What have Black Americans done for Africa?

oh my...Not all blacks have this 'victim mentality'. I was never once a slave. No one in my family was a slave, therefore, I shouldn't have a 'victim mentality' if nothing was ever done to harm me.

Well first of all, every race has been enslaved at some point or another, blacks, whites, and asians.. Despite that fact the city of Detroit (our worst city) outperforms every black nation in the world GDP wise.

And the only way Africans can even get into the U.S. is with a marketable skill and intellegence, ever heard of H1 visa. So they are expected to outdo the general population as immigrants do in every country. In reality African American wealth alone exceeds the entire GDP of the African continent. We have the most millionaires and only billionaries. So I think were doing pretty well.

And its not the responsibily for Americans to babysit Africa. Africa has been a failed contient since we left.. 400 years ago. Try the world bank and get another govt funded IMF check..

Okay, who said the list is small, where are the facts to prove it? You only looking at it through black Americans who have media and publicity following their every move and certain cities. Most black people don't play the victim or suffer from the mentalities you listed, their stereotypes and generalizations. Yes, their are some percentage of black people who do just like in any other race, but they Do Not represent a whole race of people. Just because most black people don't go around listing every good deed and thing they contributed to the world doesn't mean they are not making an impact. Yes, we know that we aren't the only ones who were held as slaves and discriminated against, but some people remains us every single day, so it is hard to forget. My question for you is this: though this rant, what are you contributing to the world? We all share the planet and these problems effects everyone, not just one race.

A lot of them are over it, or never had it.

Like Morgan Freeman said, racism will cease to be such a problem in this country if we as a nation, especially the dominant media culture quit, obsessing about it. There's just too much money to be made to let it go, though, it's a guaranteed audience getter be it magazines, papers, movies, or TV.

As soon as everyone says a collective, "Let's move on!", it'll be one of those silly things people in the future look back on and laugh about how narrow-minded we were when all along we thought we were so cutting edge, enlightened and progressive.

Great question but I'm not black so I'll have to see how this gets answered. I'm waiting to see how long it takes someone to call you a racists for having great questions that do not negativly put down black people.


Added: just as i said,You ask a legitimate question based on FACTS and these people accuse you of being a racists. They question you on where you get your info and ignore the FACT that no matter where you got your information,it is correct. They accuse you of stereotyping blacks as a group and not individuals yet they themselves are guilty of stereotyping others whether it be calling a white person of authority "the man" or accusing any person who is white or assumed to be white a racists for stating the facts. You people really need to open your eyes.Everything he said is correct and documented facts that you can read in any newspaper or on tons of reliable webpage sources.
A lot of them are not over it like one user stated.These very issues are shoved in our faces on a daily basis.If so many are over it then why are there associations out there such as the N.A.A.C.P, the united ***** college fund and other orginizations that are merley intended to benefit black americans? If they are "over it" then there would be not enough people funding these groups to allow them to remain active.

First, get over yourself. You have made this long rant and have no sufficient stats to back it up. Where are your stats that all young black men end up in prison? Where are your stats that African American students come here to study and outperform the blacks here? Next time you decide to write this long rant...have some actual FACTS to back it up.

hello black americans have done alot for this country they went to war.they have invented things.they fought for equality.and today there are black lawyers ,doctors,judges.,nurses.Please get educated more .and stop all the ignorant talk and contribute to society with postive things love yourself so that you can love others in stead of trash talking people.

Such an ignorant question, you just generalized all Blacks. And they ARE victims, heard of the jena 6 case? Theres something wrong with that. Look at all the horrible stereotypes about Blacks, and they are never seen as individuals but as a group, thats not fair. I'd be pissed if I was Black and living in America.
