I'm going to agree with those who said that it might hinge upon what kind of ring she's wearing. I wear my high school class ring on my left ring finger for a number of different reason, the primary one being it's the only finger it will fit on without falling off. It's generally a safe bet that if there's no diamond on the ring then she may be fair game.

I would say at least 90% of them are married or at least in a serious relationship.
The other 10% are usually wearing the ring to ward off being hit on when at the club/bar/whatever.
I know because I used to do this. I'd go out with my friends just dance and hang out and relax - while I didn't mind dancing, I wasn't interested in being hit on - and unfortunately there are guys who simply cannot take no for an answer. I wasn't playing hard to get, I said no and I meant it. So I found wearing the ring helped - not completely as there were those guys that just didn't care, but majority saw the ring and stayed away.
If you honestly feel the person isn't married, and you are seriously interested, ask them! Honestly, the worst that can happen is they say "No I'm not interested - Yes, I am married." No harm, no foul - simply say "I apologise if I offended you" and walk away. (If she was just saying she was married, you being polite will spark her interest - and she'll find you if she decides to).
Best Wishes

Yes . A diamond ring or gold band on the third finger left hand is a married woman. Some married women cheat . It's your business if you want to get involved with her. Women looking to have a affair will let you know right away if the are interested , others will be annoyed by you coming on to them.

That is a tough question. I actually know a few girls who wear their mothers wedding bands on their hand, and sometimes that's the only finger it will fit. I would say just engage her in conversation for a while, see if she bring someone else up. If not maybe you should say something along the lines of so how long have you been married/engaged, but dropped your face/eye down towards the ring, she will get the picture and tell you yea or no.

No, they're not necessarily married...sometimes women wear rings on that particular finger to keep guys from asking them out. So no, it's not worth asking them. They don't WANT to be asked.

You might want to ask them if they are married to clarify.

I am not married, and have been known to wear a ring on that finger, but it is not a wedding ring or an engagement ring - just fashion jewelry with a colored stone - if it is a ring like that, it should be fairly obvious. If it is a diamond ring, ask to be sure.

The third finger is not the wedding ring finger.

if there is a wedding ring, then yes, she's married. but women without ring on that finger not necessary single. if you don't want to still someone wives, you have to slow down before you ask them out.
it is not worth to ask other people wives, that will lead you feeling guilty.
