the remote starter is not a dealer installed accessory; it is made by an aftermarket company.

the honda key fob says "honda" on it. The Civic remote keyless accessory from honda never opened the trunk, only the doors. The accord keyless remote would open the trunk.

My guess is that you have a non-honda keyless remote system with the remote starter and they have a 'one-size-fits-all' remote. As your car doesn't have a trunk release solenoid in it nothing happens when you press the trunk release on the remote.

If you bought the car from a dealer, check with them but I think you're going to find that the trunk release doesn't apply to your car.

hope that answers your question

Check first to see if the car has an electric solenoid on the trunk lock. Most small Honda's I've seen have a cable release from a lever on the floor beside the driver's door to the trunk lock (beside the gas door release lever), so there's no solenoid.
If there's no solenoid, then there's no way to make the button on your remote open the trunk without adding a solenoid and receiver to the trunk lock.

I programmed a new Toyota FOB from a 3rd party vendor (for my extra set of car keys.) I found a "how to program your Toyota Key FOB" on You Tube followed the instructions & now have a working FOB. Works on the doors & the trunk.
Best of luck....

Did you buy it from a person or a dealer. If you bought it from a person go back to them with the car and tell them what the problem is and i am sure they can help you out. From a dealer go back to them and tell them the problem and i am sure they also should be able to help you out.
