I know of one person who was told she was having a girl, but instead she had a boy. I was told that its more likely to be accurate if you are told you are having a boy, since there is something there to see. I would love to know the sex of my babies, but they won't cooperate during my ultrasounds. We've tried 3 times to see what that are!

My husband and I have 4 kids. They are now 28, 25, 22, and 10. We didn't find out ahead of time what sex any of them were, they were all surprises. The older 3 were born in a time when routine ultrasounds were unheard of and anyone getting an ultrasound was getting one because of suspected serious problem. My 10 year old was truly a surprise baby, conceived despite the fact I was on birth control pills for 11 years. I had 12 ultrasounds with her due to my age (38) and I had Gestational Diabetes. My husband and I talked it over and decided we had done 3 pregnancies without knowing the sex and we'd like to do it that way the 4th time as well. Our oldest daughter and her husband have a 4 1/2 month old son. They, too, opted to let the sex of the baby be a surprise. They went one step further and picked out a boy's name and a girl's name, but refused to tell anyone what they were. It was quite exciting being in the waiting room at the hospital waiting to find out if it was a boy or a girl and what the name was. My brother and sister-in-law were told three times by 3 different technicians they were having a girl. When she was in labor she had another ultrasound and that technician said it was a boy. We had to take a lot of stuff back to the store since Grace turned out to be a Jacob.

Our choice may have been different if our situation was different. We want to find out the sex of our baby. My husband is deployed, and I'm trying to share as much of the pregnancy with him as possible. We are trying to buy most of what we need before the baby is born, so that we have enough money to move when he gets back. It's just easier for us to know the sex of the baby so we can get what we need, without always having to buy unisex stuff. We realize there is a good chance that the doctor might be wrong, but we still want to find out. I think it's a really cool idea to have it be a surprise, but finding out is just what feels right for us.

With my little boy we found out the sex. We got to buy blue stuff for him. When i was pregnant with my daughter we couldn't tell, she wouldn't lay in the right position for us. It may my pregnancy seem a little more exciting i think. Because everyday i was saying man i wonder what i'm having. When i had her, before i even threw my head back to relax i said what is it, they said a girl. So in a way its nice to know exactly what to buy(with my little boy there was no denying that he wasn't a boy you could see it good), but then again its nice to have the excitment of finding out in the end. My little girl had nothing but blue stuff, i didn't buy anything for her, i just dug out some of my son's clothes until i could find out. Then she got a few outfits at the hospital from family.

I wanted to know, because I am naturally curious and because I wanted to buy him a few things. My sister did not find out the sex of her first child, and it was amazing! I think that it depends on the type of person you are, if you are curious like me or if you love surprises.

My daughter was a surprise...I really think that is the way it should be! When she came out I was bobbing my head up and down to see if it was a girl or a boy...and the reaction I got from my mom and my Fiance was priceless...so I'm glad I chose it that way.

I cant decide if I want to know the sex of the baby. I just want my baby to be healthy. Boy or girl.. it doesn't really matter.

Our sonographer told us that she couldn't tell FOR SURE and they will almost always say that. They were right, though - we had a little girl. I really was glad to know, because then we could buy all the pink stuff and not have to buy neutrals.

We wanted it to be a surprize, and it was a boy!
A coworker of my sister was told it was a girl, so she had gone nuts on the pink - nursery and clothes - and it was a boy.
