I got: 427,680 so is the answer "430 X 10^3"?

The correct answer is 4.3 x 10^5 because for significant numbers the answer must have only as many digits as the number with the least amount of digits in the problem
which in this problem is two digits because both 45 and 72 only have two digits. Also for scientific notation the decimal point must be right behind the first number.

it should be just 43 x 10^4 remember there are only two signifigant figures in 45 and 72

you should use scientific notation instead of what you did, so it would be 4.3x10^5, since you have 2 sigs.
by the way, what you did would be right because you did not put a period after the 0, so it doesnt count. you only used 2 sigs. it just works better to use scientific notation. trust me on this

I think a sigfig is from 1-9.. so I think the right answer would be 4.30 x 10^5

it's 4.3 X 10^5
don't put the zero, because when you multiply you go with the amount of significant numbers of the smallest number and when zero is last it is significant

i got the same answer as you but 430x10^3=430000so if ur rounding thats right
