They return the lease check every year... The Cuban people do not want the shame that the Bush administration has brought their country with the Hell hole that is the Prison for Muslims....
Do we not realize that the world is tiring of the US bullies?

For those who say we are not bullies and we have a permanent lease.... well little History lessons... when the British defaeted the Chinese over Hong Kong they too signed a 'forever' lease agreement, The resurgent China got their country back from the Brits... I just say careful America, things change and I hope we are not humiliated like the Brits were and kicked out after making Hong Kong a very successful country.

Good question.. why do we not get out.
Reason: That is Bush's personal little Hell hole. it is where he can get his kicks with torture and other unspeakable things. And don't tell me he knows nothing.. even he isn't that stupid.. he knows exactly what is going on.. i am sure he has a daily report with his morning coffee. It is criminal and so is he.

The reason Guantanamo Bay is going to be a permanent black mark on American history is that the people incarcerated there have not been found guilty of any crime. Those that have been released have received no apology or compensation for wrongful imprisonment. To those that refer to murders, thieves etc. in American jails , don't forget that those prisoners had benefit of a trial. What about the suspected use of prisons in some European countries that are used by America for torture, or rendition as it is euphemistically called.
By the way, Britain gave up Hong Kong because the lease had expired.

Well, I don't think there's much chance of Gitmo making Cuba a commercially successful country; since people living there are no longer allowed to go into Cuba, or Havana. Of course, Havana is not the rocking place it used to be.
I lived in Gitmo when my father was stationed there and it was okay, but we lived better places. I personally don't think there's any point in keeping it; maybe in the 60s when the Russians were supplying arms and such, but not now. Now we stay, like you said, to be bullies and to save face.
It certainly doesn't seem to have any strategic importance and I hardly think the Cubans are planning to invade us anymore than they already have. When one is screaming about illegal immigration I always wonder why there's a different law for the Cubans than for the Mexicans.
I mean, it's nice to have an isolated military/political prison far enough away that citizens can't get there to protest, but surely we could find someplace else; we always do. The Dry Tortugas or Diego Garcia come to mind. Or we could return to the days of the prison ships and anchor them in Manila Harbor. No, that wouldn't work, not isolated enough. That's another plus for Cuba as a political prison; I bet it's really hard to escape from, but Diego Garcia would be impossible.
Of course, the main question one should ask is why America needs a political prison. If they're guilty of something why not bring them here and put them on trial?
NOTE: Hey, delenda est guy, I can read Latin, too and if you think it is, you are really as delusional as you sound, or to be polite; your wishful thinking is about as powerful as any noncoporeal being, called a god by fanatics, whether Christian or Muslim.

Hmmm, so if native Americans said they wanted America back,
Would you be on the first plane back to where ever your ancestors came from ?
Fo some reason I doubt it.
.
The Brits did not sign a forever leave for HongKong.
The lease was for 99 years and was signed in 1898.
When the lease expired, the Brits left.

we should, but we are just acting stubborn. having a prison there violates the lease.
added. people go on about illegals being here and refusing to leave, yet think we have a right to be in Cuba. leasing something does not mean you own it,violating the lease means you must relinquish the property.

Where do you suggest we put all these terrorists we have locked up there? Isn't it American land? Hell we even let these Cubans become American if they make it to dry land. Get rid of that.
Actually Hong Kong was leased to England and when the contract ran out it became Chinese property again. It had nothing to do with China taking anything back.

Yet another leftie who spreads falsehoods and misinformation. As far as Gitmo being a hell hole, the reason the prisoners are still there is their own countries don't want them back. The ones that have been sent home, would rather be back at Gitmo, at least there they had better meals than the troops stationed there, better health care than at home, and free new Korans and prayer rugs. Tell me, do those that kidnap westerners give those that happen to be Christian a Bible or just behead them. Tell me how badly they are being treated at Gitmo.

I plan to use it to exile certain right-wing extremists who have a large enough following to cause me trouble. Limbaugh will there, same with Boortz and Hannity.
But I agree with you about the bullies. I feel that we are also bullies here at home, that's why I plan to empty all the jails and let the murders, theives, etc. back into society. Who are we to question them? Besides, I will need the jail space for those other enemies who refuse to embrace my socialist/marxist revolution.
