Yes it is. When you cutt not only do you cause yourself personal pain but you hurt people around you. I understand about being depressed and stuff because I am to. I am personally trying to stop because I can see this. I see a shrink doesn't help much cuzz for the most part is family counseling, but it does make a difference. I get online and try to help other people on the subject,. or I call somebody that knows and talk about something totally random and after we are done talking I tell them TY and why. It IS serious. A shrink helps and support from friends and family.

I was a cutter and no, it doesn't seem that bad at first. But think about it...do you try to hide your cutting? If you are hiding it, why? Why do you feel the need to hide if you really think there's nothing wrong with it? Cutting is an addiction, just like drugs or alcohol. It affects the same parts of your brain that drugs or alcohol affects. Right now it doesn't seem like it's that big of deal, but think about when you're older, do you want to have the scars to deal with? If you have children, how do you want to explain it to them when they ask why you have so many scars? That was the thing that really made me stop and think about it...I wouldn't want to tell my kids that I when I was depressed I would cut myself.
You can get help from a therapist. Just look in your phonebook and call different mental health centers and see if any of the therapists you find specialize in dealing with cutting or other addictions. Even if no one "specializes" in it, you can still see any therapist and they can help you.
I hope I didn't come across sounding mean in this answer, but I do know what it's like to be a cutter and it's the same stuff that was told me when I was doing it. Hope this helps.

Yes its that bad, you should get help talk to a mental health professional, don't feel like your weird you just have to learn how to cope with your emotions I know your probably tired of people telling you to get help but you should , cutting yourself may have relief from whatever your feeling at the time but then what? the problem doesnt go away, this is a compulsive behavior, good luck, wish you the best.

Well cutting yourself is bad for you what will happen if one day you cut a vein that supplys alot of blood, you could bleed to death. And what would we do without a friend like you. First you need to get evaulated with a shrink and then he will tell you what you need to do so you won't cut yourself just because your lonely, drpressed or... Next time you feel lonely IM me and we can chat and see what we can do about it or just e-mail me. I woudl love to be your friend. SO never hesitate in getting a hold of me anytime and remember if you hurt yourself your not only hurting yourself your hurting all your friends, too. Because they care.

you should get help. it's NOT normal. Normal people cope with things in other ways.
Really, how does cutting your skin change the situation which is annoying/depressing you? It doesn't at all. Once the blood dries the situation hasn't changed, has it?

honestly, PLEASE talk to someone about it. I know it can become an addictive behavior and it's supposed to be really difficult to stop My youngest daughter did this to a minor degree as a teenager but she no longer does it- she's 29 now and a mom, and changed a lot of negative behavior in the last few years. It IS NOT ok to cut yourself, or harm yourself in any way.

Honey, if I was you, I would talk to Chickadee, she is a very smart woman, and she can help you. She will listen and help you, just give her a chance.
Yes, cutting yourself is bad, it is self mutilation, like the others said, if you cut a major artery, you will bleed to death. Get help, honey, and Chickadee is a great start, because I happen to know her, and she has helped me.

Talk to me. I will listen. Cutting yourself is hurting yourself. That is something that needs to stop soon. You have too much going for you in life.

Yeah, that's a serious thing. If you want help and want to stop (which I suggest you do) just start off by talking to someone, and asking for help. If you want to stop, someone will help you.

you're hurting yourself...and if you totally lose it one day, you might cut an important vein and bleed to death...it's bad...i used to do it too, but i was scaring everyone around me when they saw the scars...and then i got a big talk from my parents and finally realized what i had really been doing...i advise you to stop.
