I am thinking of applying for a loan online. I have poor credit, but I have a cosigner with a credit score above 700. But, he lives 200 miles away. How will they go about getting all the documentation and everything with us that far apart. Are online loans paperless? How do they work?

Be very careful with online loans - many of them are scams, they'll charge you a fee and take your money but you won't really get a loan.

You are asking the wrong question, my young friend. You do NOT need an unsecured loan. The CAR is the collateral. You need a CAR loan. Try the Navy FCU or USAA.

Papers can be emailed or faxed and originals FedExed to the lender for faster delivery. Or the final stuff can be sent to your cosignors local bank for signatures and ID verification.
