I would say New York City. Radio City Music Hall has the rockettes and it's always really pretty with all the decorations around. Plus you can see the huge tree and skate at Rockefeller Center.

If you are from America, your hometown with your family. New York City is another nice place with all the beautiful decorations, the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and all of those store displays. Some ppl like Vegas at Christmas time because it's less crowded and I am sure that there'll still be lots of Christmas decorations there (though not as spectacular as NY). Vegas alone doesn't sound like much fun, but you could make it a family vacation. Some ppl like skiing in Colorado over Christmas. You could also take a Christmas vacation in Hawaii and enjoy the nice weather. You have a lot of choices.

In my opinion Christmas day itself should be spent at home with your family, however if you are looking for a place to go around Christmas time i would definitely agree that New York City is the place to go. I visited about 2 weeks before Christmas day last year for the first time and had the most amazing stay. The decorations, displays, shops and people were all brilliant. New York at Christmas is a magical place!

Definitly New York City. The stores have some great displays, you can go ice skating, see the huge tree, watch the awesome parade and eat the BEST food under the most beautiful street decorations.

Up and above the national Christmas Tree (on the Ellipse) and Congressional Christmas Tree (on the Capitol grounds), you ought to additionally look into the trip shows on the united states Botamic Gardens, the "backyard of lighting fixtures - Season of lighting fixtures" at Brookside backyard (Wheaton, Maryland) and the "competition of lighting fixtures" on the Mormon Temple (Kensington, Maryland).
