As I asked before, I wasnt sure how to talk to my son/ force him to wear a cup while playing baseball. He just doesnt believe that getting hit with a baseball with hurt him. What I think is he has never been hit "down there" before. Should I maybe give him a accdintaly tap in his balls to show him how painfull it is then explain what a hard baseball could do. Or is that to much. any other suggestions?

You should talk to your son about it. But, if he STILL doesn't want to wear it, then I believe that "natural consequences" are the best teacher. That's the only way some people can learn - by having the naturally-occurring consequence take place for something that they choose to do.

(And I don't seriously think that the coach is going to want to get involved in that kind of lesson!)

Well, this is mean, but just let him find out the hard way.

Perhaps explain it to the coach and have your son ''accidentally'' hit there during a practice or something.

Ask one of his friends to throw a baseball to his crotch. What would women know about the pain involved?

That may be one of those things he might have to learn from experience before he believes you. I know that sounds horrible, but it seems like people learn more from experience than they do from listening to what other people say.

How old is your son?

Let him know that all the other kids are wearing one.
or
You could always create that fear of "you're not gonna have any kids when you grow up"
