Question 1
x ² + 5 x + 2 = 0
x = [- 5 ± √(25 - 8)] / 2
x = [- 5 ± √(18)] / 2
IF the equation was:-
x² + 3x + 2 = 0
(x + 2) (x + 1) = 0
x = - 1 , x = - 2 (which looks more plausible?)

Question 2
(x² + 18 x + 81) = (x + 9) (x + 9) = (x + 9)²
A perfect square.
